Being deemed as “the girl’s Superbowl,” A-Listers united at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for fashion’s most extravagant evening: The Met Ball.
The theme for the previous year was heavily influenced by the lavishness of the Gilded Age, but this year’s theme was different, Instead, a celebration of Karl Lagerfeld’s life and career. “In Honor of Karl” pays homage to the influential and frequently contentious designer who revitalized some of the most illustrious names in fashion. When Lagerfeld passed away in 2019 at the age of 85, he was still in charge of brands such as Chanel and Fendi, where he headed design for more than 50 years, as well as his own namesake label. During the decades he worked as creative director, Lagerfeld became identified with Chanel.
The spring exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” in honor of the German fashion designer’s work, served as the inspiration for the Met Gala theme.
Below are some of the best (and worst) looks of the night:

Safety pin embellishments, a lengthy train, a matching jacket, and armbands were all features of Anne Hathaway’s Versace tweed dress.

Sydney Sweeney wearing a pink Miu Miu outfit with a long train and cinched waist.

Doja Cat put it all on the table for her first Met Gala, showing up in a stunning Oscar de la Renta gown and complete cat prosthetics.

Over 12,000 Swarovski crystals and pearls were used in Sergio Hudson’s column gown for Keke Palmer.

Kendall Jenner wore Marc Jacobs, Kim Kardashian wore Schiaparelli, and Kylie Jenner wore Haider Ackermann.

Rihanna embodied the spirit of the Chanel brides who closed Lagerfeld’s couture shows with her white custom Valentino gown and white flowery hooded coat.

Controversially, little fabric was used in Lil Nas X’s look, which makeup artist Pat McGrath meticulously executed. He also wore pearls, gems, and silver body paint.

In homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette, Jared Leto arrived wearing a full cat costume which scared many.
after a lot of talk about whether or not the Kardashians were invited I expected them to make more of a statement. They looked great but I would have anticipated something more show stopping
