The Pasta Puffer: The Trendy Mix of Food and Fashion

Find the puffer here.

I just wanted to highlight this super interesting fashion read from the food section of the New York Times.

You can find the article here.

I have seen this coat around Instagram recently and every member of the Italian side of my family is rushing to find it! Obviously, it’s a fun joke, but at its $425 price tag, it amazes me that it is sold out. I have seen in trends recently, how food is making its way into fashion in similar ways. It seems to be for a specific audience that loves “fun fashion.”

This is obviously one of those trends where you buy the item, wear it while its in, and then find it in the back of your closet 20 years down the line!

This makes me wonder if people just want to buy fashion items because of the price tag and the trendiness, so they can say they own expensive clothes, or if that many people actually enjoy this type of clothing, as it is personally not for me!

I can’t tell if I hate it or love it, but I bet it will be featured on some sort of cheesy Netflix or Hallmark movie. I’m putting money on it now that this jacket, or a version of it, will be featured on “Emily in Paris”.

This is a trend that I admittedly cannot seem to wrap my head around. What differentiates the pasta puffer from not only other types of pasta but other types of food so much that it is deserving of being placed on a clothing garment and sold for such a high price?
